"TOUGH TERRAIN"  NFPA 1670 Operations Level

White Bear Rescue Training Center's "Tough Terrain" is a rope rescue course, which focuses on creating a solid basis of knowledge and skills needed for any rope rescue situation.  Nearly every jurisdiction has that 15-45 degree slope that represents an accident waiting to happen.

This is a physically demanding course.  In many ways it's more difficult than the "sexier" high angle rescue courses you may have taken.  Still, because we love what we do, when you take our Tough Terrain course, you'll have a good time working hard and learning a ton of useful stuff.

DAY ONE - Morning classroom instruction includes exercises in patient handling, essential knots and rigging systems with mechanical advantage.  After lunch, we go on-site, where each participant works with a team setting up rigging systems, acting as haul team and serving as the EMS/litter tending team.

DAY TWO - Today, you'll sharpen your skills and knowledge by tackling more difficult evacuation scenarios and practicing the basics of rappelling.  After mastering this course, you'll be ready to move on to the challenges of high angle rescue training.
